Right click and copy the photo above. Open up Photoshop and create a new document then hit OK. Photoshop will automatically insert the correct dimensions. Now paste the image on the canvas.

Next, create 2 duplicate layers from the original photo by right clicking on the layer and selecting duplicate. Do this twice so you will have three layers.

Now make sure the top layer is selected and change the blending mode to color dodge.

After that, you will hit ctrl I to invert the image. So now you should have something like this.

Now on a good image, you will most likely not see any information after the invert but with this image you do. The spots that you see here will cause some problems but can be fixed and I will cover that in the second video of this tutorial.

Now we are half way there. Next, you will go to Filter>Blur>Gaussian Blur. Depending on your image and the effect you are looking to achive, the amount of blur will vary. For this pic we will just use a radius of 2.2 then hit OK.

Now you should have something like this.

So all we have to do now is desaturate the image.

Look at the bottom of the layers pallet and you will see a half black and half white button called Fill/Adjustment Layer click that. Now you can just slide the saturation all the way to the left to achieve the grey scale look.

That’s it!
